John E. Anderson, Ph.D., has been pastor of Spirit of Faith Lutheran-Methodist Church since 2020 and is also a religion professor, having taught at several universities and seminaries in South Dakota and Minnesota since 2010. He holds a master’s degree (MTS) from Duke Divinity School in Durham, NC, and a Ph.D. in biblical studies from Baylor University in Waco, TX. His first book is entitled Jacob and the Divine Trickster (Eisenbrauns, 2011), and his research interests include the book of Genesis and troubling biblical portrayals of God.
